Milk, Water and Alcohol — Diet Drinks that Work
Are you dieting, about to diet or striving to maintain your current weight? Whatever your circumstance, consider what you drink, as well as what you eat.
Anyone who wants to lose weight knows the process is simple in theory: take in fewer calories than you use, and youll shed the pounds. Although statistics vary, you can be sure of one thing, most overweight people either fail to take off the pounds or fail to maintain their weight loss.
But what if you could drink your way to a healthy weight and maintain it? When youre dieting, its important to realize that what you drink is nearly as important as what you eat.
Milk, Dairy and Weight Loss
If you want to lose weight, don’t cut out dairy. Calcium is a fat buster, and natural sources of calcium seem to be more effective than calcium supplements. One of the best natural sources of calcium are dairy products, such as cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese and milk.
Although all dairy products are rich in calcium, in general, only milk is fortified with vitamin D. Research has clearly shown that a deficiency in vitamin D causes people to gain weight. Now there is some evidence that a healthy amount of vitamin D leads to weight loss.
How much milk should you drink? The American National Academy of Sciences recommends that adults between the ages of 19 and 50 drink three cups of milk each day. However, moderation in all things is recommended. Drinking too much milk has been linked to certain cancers.
